The best shoes and boots for autumn
Hands up who can’t wait to upgrade their footwear for autumn! We’ve done the legwork for you and found all the best autumn shoes and boots that are available to buy in Centrale & Whitgift now. We’ve picked pairs that cover off all the latest autumn trends, too, from cowboy boots to chunky boots; Adidas trainers to block heels. Farewell flip-flops, hellloooooo shiny new shoes!
Chunky white boots
Last year we saw hiking boots take the fashion pack and the high street by storm, and this season boots with a chunky black sole are still on our radar. For a new twist on the stomping style, why not try on these white boots from River Island? We love the contrasting black toe. Apparently, they’re flying off the shelves, though – so be quick! Perfect for weekends and off-duty looks, they’ll look great worn with any floaty silk skirts or floral dresses you’ve got hanging in your wardrobe. Throw on a chunky knit or your leather jacket. (Nirvana playlist optional…) If you’ve got any light jeans, these will work well – black boots can sometimes look too harsh against pale denim.
Our pick: white contrast leather lace-up hiking boots, £75, River Island
Block heel shoes
Anyone else a sucker for a colourful court? It’s such an easy way to lift your outfit, working well with anything from denim through to suiting. This year sees red shoes still reigning high, but if you’ve already bought a pair of those, then how about choosing an autumnal mustard-yellow pair instead? Step forward these gorgeous Zara shoes. Block heel shoes are perfect if you’re working 9 ‘til 5. They’ll give your outfit a polished look while making sure your feet aren’t killing you come rush hour. Just check out the pointed toe and sculptural heel on this pair – Zara nails it again!
Our pick: block heel shoes in mustard, £25.99, Zara
Black ankle boots
Ah, the one footwear style that we all have in our wardrobes: the humble black ankle boot. In order to give you an excuse/reason for buying another pair this autumn, we’ve hunted down a new-season pair that have been given an AW19 overhaul… One of our favourite pairs at Centrale & Whigift – yes, it was hard to choose just one! – is these Autograph boots from Marks & Spencer. They get two big trend ticks from us: one, the on-trend square toe was seen all over the catwalks; and, two, the sculptural flared heel makes them that little bit different from your everyday black ankle boots. What to wear them with? Oh, just everything you already own – jeans, cropped trousers, midi skirts, jumpsuits, you name it.
Our pick: Autograph leather flared heel ankle boots, £79, M&S
Now before you think we’ve gone a bit yee-hah, hear us out. Western-style boots are all over the high street and they CAN be your new boot-friend. They’re honestly wearable in real life, not just on influencers feeds. Take these black ankle pair from Aldo. Practically speaking, the elongated toe and low heel make them flattering and super comfortable. Keep your legs bare and pop them on with your favourite midi dress. Or add them to your skinny-jeans-and-tee ensemble. They look good with EVERYTHING! And give you instant Insta-cool in the process. Don’t believe us? Head in store and try them.
Our pick: Agroacia ankle boot, £105, Aldo
LEOPARD PRINT BOOTS
It’s hard to shop anywhere nowadays without seeing leopard print: from coats to bags, scarves to belts, we all love a bit of (faux) leopard. Not yet dipped your toe in the trend? These Faith leopard print boots, which we spied in Debenhams, are a good way to indulge your love of leopard. These ankle boots, with a wearable (not too high) stiletto heel, will look great paired with both your weekend and work-day wardrobes. And we’re pretty sure they’ll inspire serious boot envy from all your friends.
Our pick: Faith leopard print stiletto heel ankle boots, £49, Debenhams
If you’re upping your sneaker game for autumn, then let’s put these Adidas Ozweego trainers on your radar. The supersized white trainer trend continues to run, and if you’re keen to embrace it then you might as well turn to the king of all trainer brands, Adidas. Originally launched in the 90s, these are the new-look Ozweego. They keep their signature chunky style (no minimalism here) and will toughen up your autumn dresses a treat. We’ve put this pair to the top of our shopping list. They’re stocked in JD Sports, so you’ll have plenty of other choices if you decide dad trainers just aren’t for you. Sprint you there…
Our pick: Adidas Originals Ozweego women’s, £90, JD Sports
